The Evening of The Arts Showcase :
On Monday April 28th 2025, Whittier High School presents its 73rd Annual Evening of the Arts showcase where the Visual And Performing Arts Department puts on a showcase of their talented and wonderful students performing their creative and fine arts. The audience has experienced Band Performances, Dance Exhibitions, Choir performances and Wind Ensemble during the show. I can’t wait to see the wonderful performance that these extraordinary VAPA teachers who took their time to instruct/choreograph the amazing skills, artworks and visual performance for their classes to perform.
Dance: Here, our show starts with Period 4- Dance 1 as they perform their jazz piece with their jazz song “Work For It” by singer, Daphne Wills & LÒNIS. These dancers entertained the audience as they showed their amazing dance moves that include all: jazz dance isolations, chasses, battements, and pirouettes. Their performance was spectacular and stunning with the rhythm of the choreography, and how much energy these dancers expressed in their performance! I’m sure it must have taken these dancers a while to focus and improve their choreography with much needed practice.
Our next dance performance is from Period 5- Dance 1 as they also perform their jazz dance piece with their jazz song,“If I Can’t Have You” by singer Kelly Clarkson. These dancers entertained the audience as they showed their amazing dance moves that include all: jazz triplets, chasses, chaines, and pirouettes. Their performance was amazing and fantastic with the stunning choreography and the enthusiasm from the dancers. The arm movements were extraordinary as the dancers undertook their skills all at the same time with their perfect rhythm. I’m sure these dancers took their time to complete the process of the choreography from their dance piece in order to make it look good.
Our final dance performance is from Period 1- Dance ll, lll, and lV as they perform their lyrical dance piece with their lyrical song,“Love Like This” by singer, Ben Rector. These dancers entertained the audience with their ballet/lyrical dance moves that include all: pirouettes, sautés, jetés, and fan kicks. This performance became a huge success with the exciting and wonderful choreography these dancers performed. All of the dancer’s movements and lyrical patterns were very thrilling in every dancer and very notable due to the lyrical intent/message behind the expressive song ¨Love Like This¨. The arm movements are very intense and flowy as every dancer made sure their dance moves were perfect, ideal, and strong in the audience’s eyes. I think these dancers had the best choreography and lyrical song to perform in the Evening of The Arts Show! Special thanks to our wonderful dance coordinator, ms. brunel for teaching these talented dancers their stunning choreography and wonderful skills!
Guitar/Choir: Moving on to our next performance, we start with Guitar/Choir as they perform their marvelous piece of lively and soft music. The music of guitar sounded very mellow and soft like inside an ambience video and someone hanging out in the meadows. Choir sounded very lovely and wonderful as they performed with their lovely voices as they sang collectively. It sounds very beautiful as the Choir blends their voices together in harmony, often creating a rich, resonant, and powerful sound along with the guitar.
Band/Wind Ensemble: Following on, as the show ends in the auditorium lastly we have Band and Wind Ensemble performing their impressive and relentless sections of underlying and theatrical music to entertain the audience. I think Band has a great way of performing their sets and coordinating their music throughout while they perform.
Overview: This is a great way to experience and enjoy the marvelous event of Evening of The Arts! I really enjoyed watching all of VAPA perform their lively and exciting performances to the audience and others. As a VAPA student myself, I love to perform my part of the show and be surrounded by my family and friends. I love being able to support other students as they are there to support me. Being a Dance 2 dancer, this is the night I will never forget especially being a VAPA student and dancer. I strongly believe VAPA should have more performances all year long to provide and include talent for our amazing school!
